INTRODUCTION 

During the fourth republic , three major political parties : Alliance for Democracy ( AD); All People's Party ( APP); People's Democratic Party ( PDP) were formed as political platforms to contest elections into political offices . Of all the political parties , the group of eminent 34 ( G-34) formed the major bloc in the PDP. This dreaded pressure group led the PDP to cruise to victory in almost all the states of the federation .

RIVERS GODFATHERS 

In Rivers State , Chief Marshall Harry ,as at then , State Chairman of the PDP foisted Dr. Peter Odili on Rivers State as against the most popular candidate at the time , Chief Sergeant Awuse . Rather than conduct a transparent primary elections ( which bookmakers presumed Awuse would have won) , Chief Harry , in collusion with Chief Solomon Lar - then , national chairman of PDP used the " Adoption " scheme to edge out Chief Awuse as Dr. Odili contested the election and eventually ,won under the platform of the PDP .Besides , Chief Harry became the new godfather and ' de facto ' leader of the time . This godfather and godson relationship was short-lived as Chief Harry defected from PDP to ANPP ( All Nigerian People's Party ) to wrestle powers from Odili in 2003. Coincidentally , Chief Harry was gruesomely murdered under circumstances yet to be  unravelled . As to be expected , Dr. Odili won his reelection bid and governed Rivers State till 2007. During that period ( 1999-2007), Dr. Odili held the RED PEN and remained one of the most powerful personages cum governors in the federation . Odili was on the lips of everyone as a golden governor . He mobilised his classmates for former President Olusegun Obasanjo against the ' almighty ' Vice President Atiku Abubarkar ( former VP) and his dreaded cabal across Nigeria .

In 2007, there was a change of baton as Dr. Peter Odili ENSURED that his political son - Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi became his successor . In fact , Dr. Odili , Chief G. U Ake ( of blessed memories ) foisted C. R Amaechi on the party leadership as eventually , CRA won the party primaries of sixteenth December , 2006 against the stiff opposition from forces within and outside . The Abuja forces were hell-bent on cutting him down to size . There was a twist - K-leg - a neo coinage by Obasanjo . Under his watch , Obasanjo and other forces against Odili temporarily truncated CRA's " success ". He was denied his party ticket . There was palpable anger and incensed tensions all over the land and sea .Violence and Crises were imminent . To save this situation , CRA headed for the Courts as directed by Odili. In the interregnum , Sir Celestine Omehia was used as a substitute to CRA. Again ,Odili became another godfather . The Supreme Court of Nigeria reinstated CRA and declared him as duly elected governor and winner of the 12th April ,2007 gubernatorial elections in Rivers State .

CRA (25th October 2007- 29th May , 2015) became the new sheriff in town . He won election as Chairman , Nigerian Governors Forum ( NGF) . CRA became the most powerful governor at his time because he held the RED PEN . It is on records that his feud with GEJ orchestrated the eventual loss of the latter in 2015 general elections .CRA ,BAT and other opposition bigwigs formed a formidable opposition which democratically ousted an incumbent president . The magic of Rivers Red Pen !

CRA's attempt to foist a successor - DAP failed in 2015. In contrast , PEJ ,wife of President GEJ foisted Nyesom Wike on Rivers State as she became the new godmother . Nyesom Wike became the newest sheriff and took over the RED PEN.He terrorised everyone not sparing PEJ.He became almost "Oluwa Wike " (in SDM's voice or tone )and emperor of Rivers State .

During the 2019 general elections , Nyesom Wike almost lost to Awara of AAC but for the intervention of Abba Kyari ( CoS to PMB) ,BAT and SMA played the smart cards that brought him back as a second tenure governor . Thus, the trio of Kyari, Tinubu and Abe foisted Nyesom Wike on Rivers State as he continued his reigns of terror !

In 2023, " Oluwa Wike" did everything within his powers to foist and install Sim Fubara as a governor . He , indeed , succeeded and Sim became ! Today, Sim has the RED PEN  as the new sheriff . Now, there is a poser ! What makes you guys think that Sim would not be as powerful as Peter Odili( 1999-2007);CRA ( 2007-2015); Nyesom Wike ( 2015-2023). What gives these men some edges over their contemporaries is the RED PEN ! Nothing more ,nothing less !

IN CONCLUSION 

The moment you have the magical RIVERS RED PEN ,nobody dares you any longer . Odili used it against OBJ's tenure elongation and succeeded ; CRA used it against GEJ and succeeded , Wike used it against CRA and Atiku ,he succeeded . Why then ,do you think that Sim would not succeed , now, that the RED PEN is against Oluwa Wike?
