After Mega Millions offered one of the largest jackpots in its history, thousands of people are wondering how to buy tickets and if they can do it online.
For the third time in the draw's history, the prize pool surpasses the $1 billion mark, and all entrants will be on the lookout for the grand drawing to be held this Friday, July 29 at 11:00 p.m. ET, 8:00 p.m. P.C.
There are many questions from those who want to participate and become millionaires, and thousands who will try to do so on Friday, when 1,025 million dollars are at stake in the draw.
How to Apply online?
Some states and the District of Columbia allow you to purchase lottery tickets online, though you must first register with your state or territory lotteries in order to do so.
You can buy tickets online in Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, but you must register first. If you live in New York, a Mega Millions subscription is available.
But you have to be careful and cautious, because you could be the victim of a scam.
What if I am in a state without Mega Millions?
Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah don't have Mega Millions, but you can play. If you buy your ticket elsewhere and win, you will only have to travel in order to cash in your prize.

You just have to buy a $2 ticket and choose six numbers. To win you have to match all 6 numbers.

Mega Millions® tickets cost $2.00 per play.
Players may pick six numbers from two separate pools of numbers - five different numbers from 1 to 70 (the white balls) and one number from 1 to 25 (the gold Mega Ball) - or select Easy Pick/Quick Pick. You win the jackpot by matching all six winning numbers in a drawing.
Until further notice, the starting jackpot will vary based on sales and will be announced before each drawing.
There are a total of nine ways to win a prize in Mega Millions, ranging from the jackpot down to $2:
* In California, all prizes are pari-mutuel, meaning payouts are based on sales and the number of winners. All other Mega Millions states set the 2nd through 9th prizes at pre-determined amounts.

Annuity option: The Mega Millions annuity is paid out as one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments. Each payment is 5% bigger than the previous one. This helps protect winners’ lifestyle and purchasing power in periods of inflation.
